Folklore Tattoo Studio

As a student I used to live up in York, and so that is where I had my first tattoos done. When I came back to the Midlands I thought I would never find an artist to be as good as the one I had had up North, boy was I wrong. Not only did I find an amazing talented artist (Marie), but all the staff at Folklore Tattoo Studio are very friendly and welcoming, and immediately you feel at ease as soon as you walk in the shop. No intimidation what so ever. I have been back to Marie many a time now, whether it is for small tattoos or large tattoos, because I know whatever challenge I give her, Marie will make it a million times better than I ever imagined. In fact I even had all of my first tattoos covered up by Marie's art work because the rest of the pieces I had had done by Marie had put the old tattoos to shame.I can not recommend the shop enough and I will continue to keep going there.

Been coming to Marie for various large project tattoos for a few years now, and I love all of them. She understands the personal nature of tattoos, and is an incredibly skilled artist. The studio has a great, friendly vibe too.

Came to FTS to have two half sleeves done by Marie. She went above and beyond with the designs, making sure to talk me through my ideas and helping to perfect them into artwork that worked seamlessly altogether. Marie stayed an hour + over time to make sure to complete both tattoos in the single day sitting, which I cannot express how appreciative I am! Marie also went to the effort of making sure that when doing the second design, it was going to be complimentary to the first tattoo and parallel it in some aspects, then took extra time and care to make sure things were edited once the transfer was on my arm to make sure for the perfect fit.The studio vibe is incredibly friendly and relaxed. It was a pleasure spending two full days with Marie and Monique! The shop has an awesome, eclectic style and there's always good music on and an endless supply of hot drinks. It's also located right in the town centre, so it's incredibly convenient to reach and go get food to fuel you up. Marie made sure each time that I was sat comfortably and had rest breaks when needed, which was greatly appreciated as a chronic pain sufferer. The whole experience was miraculously relaxed and easy going!The first tattoo is already healed and is as crisp in detail and vibrant as the day I got it- which Marie proved when she took before and after photos to put side by side! As somebody who suffers from keloid scarring and has a previous loss of ink at a different studio, I was anxious about the results or needing touch ups- which is definitely not the case with Marie's work! She's packed plenty of detail in without overdoing it and my skin has healed up beautifully. No ink has been lost and there's absolutely no scarring - coming from someone with keloid scar tissue, it's something of a miracle! I believe this is down to Marie's thorough explanation and suggestion of the wet healing process she encouraged me to use that she applies to her own tattoos. It's clearly done the trick and the after care of soothing and wrapping up the tattoo when it was fresh also seemed to calm my tattoos down a lot quicker. The entire healing process took about 20 days for the first tattoo, without any itching or problems. The tattoo wash, oil and instructions card Marie left me with were incredibly clear and easy to follow and I really do think that made the world of difference with the quality of healing.It's very clear that Marie is excited for every project she takes on and that she wants to provide the best long term results, that she wants to be proud of her work in future. I've already got a third tattoo in mind that I'd like for Marie to do someday. I highly recommend FTS and Marie's work! Everything about my new ink and the experience was beyond perfect. Five stars doesn't do FTS justice! Highly recommend and worth every penny for an unforgettable experience and tattoos that are a work of art!

Had a tattoo done here a few years ago by Adam. He did a stellar job, was friendly and reassuring throughout. Both his and Marie's artwork is fantastic and can be seen on Instagram. Nice and clean inside and very professional. Would definitely recommend to any first timers, or experienced tattoo'd folk!

I got a tattoo from Marie a couple of weeks ago. I adore her art work/tattoos and my new addition. She's very talented. Marie is also very friendly (along with the couple of members of staff that I met), informative and great to talk to. I definitely recommend.

Very professional and excellent work by Marie and Adam. Marie kindly designed me a beautiful water lotus piece recently and my new ink is perfect! Healed beautifully and Marie knows her stuff when it comes to aftercare. Would highly recommend Folklore and look forward to every visit! Both artists have had their work featured in numerous magazines and rightly so! Even if you are unsure what to have done next then I would advise you to pop in for a chat and I'm sure you will come out with a very unique piece of new ink! ;) x

Folklore Tattoo are an amazing team - highly skilled, very professional and make you feel very welcome and at ease ... fully recommend !Today was my first visit to the studio to get a cover up completed for a very dark bird tattoo done poorly by another tattoo studio.Prior to the visit I had an online consultation due to COVID to discuss all aspects of the tattoo.Hygiene standard spot on and excellent COVID safe procedures put in practice to ensure everyone’s safety.Marie is an excellent Tattoo artist , who has done an outstanding free hand custom cover tattoo with loads of detail , I’m over the moon .Thank you !!!!!

Having been to other tattooists before, I was pleasantly surprised when I met Marie compared to other tattooists Marie is an artist and takes care and gives full attention to her customers needs and requirements. I have never been left disappointed by any work I have had done. I can highly recommend Marie and her team @ Folklore. Inspirational!

I had my tattoo done by Marie at Tattoo Freeze. She was brilliant; she designed me a beautiful custom piece. As we wouldn't see each other until the day, Marie kept in contact with me to ensure it was exactly how I wanted it. On the day, I was made to feel comfortable and at ease. The service was professional and friendly, I was given great aftercare information. And most importantly my tattoo is AMAZING!On another note, cost does not matter when it comes to getting your ink as you pay for quality; I found the pricing from Folklore Tattoo Studio very fair - especially for the high quality art you get in return!I would definitely have more done here :)
